BLACKMAGIC DESIGN POWERS IP BASED PRODUCTION AT CHOPIN FESTIVAL

Historic music event adopts ST 2110 IP workflow for discreet 4K broadcast coverage.

Fremont, CA, USA - Wednesday, August 6, 2025 - Blackmagic Design today announced that the annual Chopin Festival, a Polish music event celebrating the works of composer Fryderyk Chopin, was produced using an IP 2110 workflow, featuring a Blackmagic Design acquisition, control and delivery solution.

The six day event took place at the historic Hunting Palace of the Radziwiłł Princes in Antonin, a national heritage site built entirely of wood in 1822. Organized by Polskie Radio and the Kalisz Centre for Culture and Art, the festival welcomes leading pianists and emerging talent from across Poland.

Faced with the need to deliver a high quality televised broadcast without disturbing the historic venue or its in person audience, the organizers enlisted production specialists relacje.video.

“We had to devise a robust live production workflow while respecting the historical and acoustic sensitivity of the space,” said Marcin Andrzejewski, founder and production manager at relacje.video. “The key issues were noise, access, and image quality. We couldn’t make a sound during performances, and everything had to be invisible, yet still deliver broadcast grade 4K for television and social platforms.”

To meet these challenges, Andrzejewski designed a workflow centered around IP 2110. The production relied on four Blackmagic Studio Camera 6K Pro units, each connected via a single 10G Ethernet cable to a Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 4x12G PWR. “This setup provided power, video, and remote control over a single line, keeping the camera rig clean and unobtrusive, ideal for a space where visual and acoustic discretion were essential,” said Andrzejewski.

In the control gallery, an ATEM Television Studio HD8 ISO live production switcher was used for live vision mixing while simultaneously recording H.264 proxy files for each camera ISO alongside a DaVinci Resolve project file. The IP workflow also enabled remote camera control, allowing adjustments to focus, framing, and exposure in real time.

“Being able to manage everything remotely meant I could essentially vanish into the background,” Andrzejewski noted. “That helped preserve the atmosphere for the live audience while maintaining full creative control.”

Access to the DaVinci Resolve project file containing all the live cuts further streamlined the post deliverables.

“This meant I could start editing immediately after each concert,” he said. “In many cases, we delivered review cuts to the artists by the next morning, even after late night performances.”

The IP based setup proved quiet, efficient, and highly effective, delivering 4K coverage, real time control, and quick turnaround with minimal impact on the historic venue. “It showed us what’s possible when you have to be invisible,” concluded Andrzejewski. “Having seen how well it performs in a space like this, we’re looking at how we can expand our use of 2110 in future productions.”
