Live Production
and Broadcast Update
Today I wanted to tell you about some exciting new products and software updates we’ve been working on. We recently announced two new Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K models, four completely redesigned HyperDeck Studio models and the new Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K.
We also released DaVinci Resolve 17.3 and announced a new, lower price for Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K to make high resolution workflows more affordable and accessible.
Here are more details on each.
New Blackmagic
Studio Camera 4K
We recently introduced a new family of Blackmagic Studio Cameras for live production. These new models have the same features as large studio cameras, miniaturized into a single compact and portable design. Plus with digital film camera dynamic range and color science, the cameras can handle extremely difficult lighting conditions while producing cinematic looking images. The sensor features an ISO up to 25,600 so you can create amazing images even in dimly lit venues. It even works under moonlight! Advanced features include talkback, tally, camera control, built in color corrector, Blackmagic RAW recording to USB disks and much more! You can even add a focus and zoom demand for lens control!
Introducing
HyperDeck Studio
HyperDeck Studio lets you record broadcast quality video files directly onto SD cards and SSD media! The new redesigned HyperDeck Studios feature modern design with more codecs and quieter cooling. All models now support recording to H.264, Apple ProRes or DNxHD files with either PCM or AAC audio. Plus the 4K model adds support for H.265 files! When you've finished recording, media can be mounted on any computer to access the files using your favorite video software. For ISO recording, there's even built in timecode and reference generators for syncing multiple units! All of these powerful features make HyperDeck Studio perfect for broadcast, live production or multi screen digital signage!
New Blackmagic
Web Presenter 4K
The new Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K model has an upgraded Ultra HD resolution H.264 encoder for live streaming in HD or Ultra HD natively. The compact design includes a 12G-SDI input with down converter, so you can select to stream in 1080p HD or 2160p Ultra HD resolutions. This new model also simulates a USB webcam when connected to computers, and the USB webcam feature also supports 1080p HD or 2160p Ultra HD resolutions.
Announcing
DaVinci Resolve 17.3
DaVinci Resolve 17.3 adds a completely new processing engine that transforms the speed of DaVinci Resolve to work up to 3 times faster on Apple Mac models with the M1 chip. With this massive speed increase, you can now play back, edit and grade 4K projects faster, and can even work on 8K projects on an Apple M1 notebook. The new processing engine uses tile based rendering, which also gives you up to 30% longer battery life on laptop computers when working in DaVinci Resolve.
New Low Price
for Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K!
We also announced a new lower price for the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K of US$5,995. Since we released Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K last year, we have been working hard to increase the supply of sensors and make improvements in our manufacturing processes to help reduce costs. With the latest DaVinci Resolve 17.3 update that accelerates high resolution digital film on M1 Macs, now this new lower price for Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K will make high resolution acquisition more affordable as well. This means a much wider range of customers will have access to feature film production.
As you can see, we’ve been working hard to build some powerful and professionally designed products that we hope will creatively inspire you. We hope you find these updates useful and we can’t wait to see the amazing work you’ll produce with them.
